How to check your CPU temperature in windows 10

Maintaining the temperature of the CPU is very necessary. If the temperature of your CPU goes beyond a certain point, then it will behave incorrectly and will crash. If there are frequent crashes then you won’t be able to use your computer and all the work you are doing gets lost.

We need to look out for the increase in the temperature and if the CPU gets hotter, we need to get the actual readings of the temperature. There can be different reasons for the increased temperature of the CPU. Once the reasons are eliminated the temperature of your CPU will also go down and your computer will work correctly.

There are different methods to monitor CPU temperature. You can check the CPU temperature from the BIOS or you can use third-party software available on the internet.

Here we will tell you how you can check CPU temperature and keep it in check.

Need for constantly monitoring the CPU temperature

The Central Processing Unit is responsible for completing the task given by hardware and software and then reverting back. If the CPU gets hot then it starts working slowly and if the temperature gets up to a certain point, then the CPU will stop working. An increase in the temperature of the CPU will result in frequent crashes of the computer. High temperatures can also damage your CPU.

Reason for high CPU temperature:

1. Incorrect applied/Old thermal paste

Thermal paste keeps the CPU chip cool. If it is not applied correctly or gets old then it may not work correctly and your CPU will overheat and will not behave correctly.

2. Overclocking

Overclocking is a way of increasing the performance of your CPU, however, with the increase in the performance the CPU temperature also increases. With all the load on the CPU, its temperature will get really high and can damage the computer.

3. Smaller Size of Computer

Generally smaller size computers are for convenience, however, for making computers smaller generally, there are some fans removed and make the fan smaller. Also, all the hardware is cramped up in a small place.

All these things will stop the venting of the heat very difficult and your computer will become very hot.

4. Old Computer

Old devices gather dust and that stops then the flow of the air also stops. This will increase the temperature of your CPU.

5. System crash

Often when our system crashes, we blame it on some software or hardware problem. However, system crashes can also occur due to overheating. Systems that are overheating will freeze and crash.

How to check the CPU Temp without any third-party software

Manually we can check the health of the hardware, however, we cannot check the temperature of the CPU normally.

The method of checking the CPU temperature is not easy. You have to visit the BIOS of your system to check the temperature of your CPU. BIOS is on the Motherboard and is the first software that runs when the computer starts. It makes sure that your hardware runs properly and your device starts properly.

Now with all the advancements, BIOS is getting old and it is getting replaced by UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) software. UEFI/BIOS can be accessed during the starting of your computer. Therefore, you need to restart your computer.

How to go into BIOS/UEFI in Windows 10:

Step 1: Open the settings by clicking on the Settings icon from the taskbar.

Step 2: Click on Update & Security.

Step 3: Now click on Recovery from the side panel.

Step 4: Click on the Restart now button below “Advanced startup”.

Step 5: Once the system restarts click on the troubleshoot.

Step 6: Now click on Advanced options.

Step 7: Now click on “UEFI Firmware Settings”.

Step 8: Now click on Restart.

You will see the temperature under the hardware monitor or PC status.

Check the temperature of your CPU using a software:

There are different third-party software available on the internet that will show you the temperature in a single click.

Generally, manufacturers of the GPU have the software developed especially for monitoring the performance of your hardware. The software will help you to monitor the CPU temperature.

You can use these programs to maintain the CPU temperature by controlling the load on the CPU and controlling the CPU fan.

Verdict:

Maintaining the temperature of the CPU is very necessary. The temperature of the CPU is very crucial for the working of the computer. Whenever the temperature of the CPU gets high it does not work properly. Your computer will restart after a few minutes and it will crash frequently.

The temperature of the CPU should be at a nominal range, but it can go a little bit higher due to the workload. However, it should not go above a certain point.

There can be different reasons for the heating of the CPU, we need to maintain the CPU temperature in order to work correctly.
